GTA Online: LSD Wars was my first experience working in a AAA studio and working as a Designer professionally. I came into this project while it was already being developed so the first thing I had to do was to catch up on what my Seniors and Leads had already done. Afterwards I was slowly integrated into the team and was responsible for listening to my Lead Designer, who would give me daily tasks to focus on. As well as completing tasks from my Lead, I was also advised to be self motivated, looking for aspects of gameplay and design that could improve the project.
I was already experienced with the concept of working with what you have, which made it easier whenever I found myself wanting to suggest ideas and features that couldn't be implemented in the development timeline. It also helped being able to review the content that was being implemented in real time, providing feedback to other departments and having the opportunity to converse with them on the daily basis, observing and learning what solutions we can bring to problems that appeared during development. I was also involved in online meetings with other departments, shadowing my lead and seeing how an experienced game designer conducts themselves which was valuable experience and something I intend to carry going forward into all future projects. One aspect of this Title Update that I am proud of was the influence I had over the gameplay and structure regarding missions. I was able to take a look at how the team created missions and objectives and through my review plays, I could add my influence on and solutions. This hopefully managed to show itself in regards to how the projects gameplay was different from its previous Title Updates.
In the Last Dose, I was more concentrated on the review player rather than any design work. The team handling most of the innovation for this part of the project already had a strong vision for what they wanted and it was up to me and my team to offer timely feedback and workable solutions that didn't collide too much with the vision of the project. This was a slightly different take in my role but it was still one that I enjoyed. Unfortunately, I'm unable to share the design documents that I worked on however, if you want to play the project please feel free to click on the link below and if you want to talk to me about it, send a message to my business email or call me and I would be happy to answer.
